My Dearest Friend,
If we were seated together with a pot of tea between us, this is what I would tell you: I am a military spouse who has spent more than a decade learning the rhythms of this life. I have known the quiet of late-night phone calls that change everything, the weight of boxes stacked high during PCS season, and the joy of friendships that blossom unexpectedly—sometimes at a picnic table, sometimes over shared laughter in the midst of hard days.
I write these letters not because I have mastered this journey, but because I am still walking it—just as you are. In every move, in every season, I continue to learn how to build community, how to set boundaries, and how to find grace for myself and others. My hope is that by sharing both the heavy and the hopeful, you might feel a little less alone, and a little more steady, wherever this life has carried you.
Yours in all sincerity,
A Kindred Spirit
About My Letters
I have chosen to write in the form of letters, because that is how I most naturally share my heart. A letter is both personal and timeless—it carries with it the intimacy of friendship across miles and years. In my letters, you will often meet Beloved, my husband whose service shapes our days; Bun, my curious and growing son; and Bean, my spirited little one. They are the touchstones of my stories, the anchors that give shape to my reflections, and the reason I carry our traditions forward wherever we are sent. Through these letters, my hope is to offer companionship and encouragement, so that you may feel less like a stranger and more like a friend who has always had a place at my table.
